KATIE T FUND

Aunty Taffy met her friend Katie during the time she volunteered at the Agoura Animal Shelter in the mid 1990s. Katie had come to the shelter because she heard there was a purebred female Doberman and was interested. She was so sensitive that she could not go into the kennels herself. Well, no purebred female but we did have a giant (goofy) male mix. Docked tail/floppy ears. She took him and named him Cleveland in honor of Cleveland Amory, an animal activist. She loved that dog and we remained friends.

Didn’t take long to find out she had more dogs, some cats, horses and a giant pig. In 2000 Aunty Taffy moved from Southern California to Phoenix with the three dogs she had at the time and a couple years later Katie moved to a more central California location. Her biggest problem with her move was getting that pig transported. He was gigantic and old and she was worried about him making the trip of a few hours. She finally did get her gardener to take the pig and it all worked out great. Katie was every animal’s friend.

Katie started getting sick toward the end of 2019. She went to doctors, had tests. No answers. She stopped having conversations with Aunty Taffy and could only text. She finally got her diagnosis and it was terminal. She passed in February after making sure every one of her animals went to caring homes. That was the most difficult part of the illness for her.

Aunty Taffy feels passionately about pet rescue, still actively rescues herself and supports established rescue groups. This fund is dedicated to Katie's memory and will help continue efforts to find homes for every pet. Portions of merchandise sales and equipment rentals will go into this fund and be used to help support those pet rescue groups and will also help Aunty Taffy with her own rescue efforts.

Aunty Taffy loves all dogs and wants them all to have a chance of having their very own families.
